Come to the Light

Do not be afraid. Just take one step into the corridor and then another and then another. Set aside your reservations, your confusion, yes, even your anger. Set aside past injustices done to you. Set aside your fears.

Right now, while you are in this first transitional arch, you might still feel the weight of the world pressing in on you. You might still feel all the burdens that you bear, be confined by the emotions that trouble you, feel enveloped by all the mistakes that you’ve made. You might still feel trapped by agonizing physical pain.

And then you will step into a sacred space. Daylight from windows along the corridor will envelop you. Lamplight above will shine softly into your soul. Your being will gently unclench itself. Your mind will leave its prison cell, now in step with your soul.

You will move toward The Light slowly, while feelings of delight and joy surprise you. You will smile inside with a lightness of being you never knew before. Astounded but not alarmed, you will begin to float along the corridor toward The Light, no longer bound to the floor.

As you grow closer to The Light, arch by arch, you will glide into eternal calmness, with no memory of suffering, no memory of heartache, no memory of pain. You will know the end of earthly knowing, will be beyond the reach of tears.

At the end of the corridor, your life will be in harmony with The Light, infused with The Light, take joy in being in the presence of The Light, in being in communion with The Light.

Do not be afraid. Once you pass through the corridor, you will, at last, have arrived home. Your past will be past; your future is without end.

When your time comes, just take one step.
